June 27, 2018 — Batavia, New York — First Wave Products Group, LLC, a subsidiary of First Wave Technologies, Inc. (“First Wave” and “company”), announces that the company has expanded its customer base by signing a new client within the Kaiser Permanente hospital network.  The new client, The Kaiser Permanente Antioch Medical Center, located on the East Bay of San Francisco, California, establishes First Wave’s presence in both the Kaiser Permanente network as well as in the acute care market.

An order for twelve (12) of First Wave’s First Crush® Automated Pill Crushers was placed by the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a department where there is a high demand for pill crushing.  First Crush provides the ICU staff with an expeditious method of preparing patient medications while ensuring greater quality control and dose accuracy for the patient.

Noting that there are over 35 million hospital admissions annually, First Wave recognizes the vital role that First Crush can play in delivering patient pharmaceuticals. The acute care market is an area where there is significant need for precise protocols as well as time efficiencies.

The new relationship with Kaiser Permanente fits in with First Wave’s strategy of expanding into new markets within the healthcare system.  Acute care is a larger market then the company’s current customer base of nursing homes.  Furthermore, aside from the nursing home population, acute care has the highest demand for pill crushing.

First Wave’s Chief Executive Officer and Director, Brian Bell, stated, “We are delighted to be working with the Kaiser Permanente Hospital Group. Kaiser Permanente has a strong reputation for offering superior service and providing best-in-class medical care.  We are pleased to be establishing a presence within the ICU department and servicing this group.  Moreover, we are honored to be affiliated with the Kaiser organization and look forward to potentially expanding our relationship further within their network of hospitals.”
