First Crush® Found to be Clinically
Superior
September 24, 2019 – Batavia, New York – First Wave Products Group, LLC, a subsidiary of First Wave Technologies, Inc. (“First Wave” and “company”), announces that the company has received a purchase order from Novant Health standardizing on the First Crush® system across the entire healthcare network. Novant Health is a four-state integrated network (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia) consisting of more than 1,500 physicians and 26,000 employees at more than 500 locations, including 15 medical centers and hundreds of outpatient facilities and physician clinics. Novant Health will start utilizing the First Crush pill crusher starting in October, 2019.
The purchase order came shortly after First Crush® was unanimously found to be “clinically superior” to a competing manual pill crusher, Silent Knight, manufactured by Links Medical Products Inc. The assessment was based on a product trial run by Novant Health. Every hospital within the Novant Health system tested both products and unanimously reported First Crush® to be preferred.
First Wave’s First Crush® Automated Pill Crusher is an automated technology that allows patients to receive their medication in a manner that is more accurately dosed, has a higher grade of refinement, and is easier to swallow. These attributes support better patient compliance with prescribed medication and ultimately a healthier patient. Medical professionals administering medication benefit from quicker medication preparation time, more efficient and accurate processing, and less physical labor.
According to First Wave’s Chief Executive Officer and Director, Brian Bell, “We are pleased to have been selected by Novant Health as their preferred vendor for pill crushers. The established footprint Novant Health has within the Southeast region along with the wide variety of healthcare facilities within their healthcare system allows First Crush® to be utilized in a variety of settings by various healthcare professionals. We look forward to offering a higher level of care to patients within the Novant Health system.”
